The Future Leaders Merit Scholarship

The Skandalaris Family Foundation has formed a partnership with Detroit Country Day School (DCDS) to identify and support outstanding students who have excelled inside the classroom and in extracurricular activities. Students who do not currently attend DCDS can apply for the scholarship as they enter grades 6 through 9. The scholarship is renewable annually, but the intent of the scholarship is to continue payments through the student’s senior year. 

Applicants must complete the admission process at DCDS prior to applying for a Future Leaders Merit Scholarship. DCDS will send its recommendation to the Foundation, and this recommendation will be considered along with the Foundation’s application. A copy of our application can be obtained from this site. The Foundation will provide financial support for tuition as required by DCDS. Scholarships typically range from $8,000 to $12,500 per year.

Selection will be made by officers of the Foundation, family members, and selected advisors to the Foundation. The Foundation anticipates that up to 25 students per year may receive Future Leaders Merit Scholarships once this program matures. The majority of our financial commitment originates from the Skandalaris family. However, other supporters will be solicited to help maintain this program.
