The Application Process

Where can students get an application?

Applicants can download the application form by clicking on the link below:


Additionally, applicants can acquire an application by contacting the Skandalaris Family Foundation by mail, facsimile, telephone or e-mail. Application requests must include:

  • Student’s full name
  • Home address
  • Current school’s name
  • Grade level in Fall 2010
  • Student’s date of birth

When is the application deadline?

Typically, applications must be received by the Foundation on or before the following dates:

  • Regular Application: Future Leaders Merit Scholarship – Before May 31, 2009
  • Late Application: Future Leaders Merit Scholarship – Before September 1, 2009 (limited number available)

What are the criteria for the Future Leaders Scholarship Program?

To be considered for a Future Leaders Scholarship, a student must:

  • Complete the Detroit Country Day School admissions process and be recommended by DCDS
  • Be entering the 8th grade in the fall (under select circumstances, students entering grades 6-8 may be considered)
  • Be a United States citizen
  • Have excellent academic credentials
  • Participate and excel in extracurricular activities
  • Agree to pay at least $10,000 in annual tuition to attend Detroit Country Day School
  • Not be a current student at DCDS
